Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree
AAS Degree Overview
Students who successfully complete the Drafting Design Program
will demonstrate the ability to work in an entry level computer
aided drafting position. The classes required for the degree
and the class descriptions are listed below.
The program is combination of technical drafting
classes and "soft" skill classes which prepare the student for the
workforce.
The AAS Degree is 91 credits.
Student Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete the Drafting Design Program will:
1. Demonstrate the ability to use computer aided design applications
to produce civil, mechanical, and architectural drawings.
2. Demonstrate the ability to present and analyze data
quantitatively.
3. Demonstrate knowledge of drafting and engineering terminology.
4. Demonstrate the ability to read and listen effectively and
demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively through writing,
speech, and visual means for personal, academic, and career
purposes.
5. Access and evaluate print and online information relevant to the
drafting design profession
6. Explain best practices and emerging trends and technologies in
the drafting field and the need to keep current with industry
changes.
7. Demonstrate an understanding of professional and ethical
responsibility.
8. Demonstrate professionalism with regard to attendance,
punctuality, and contribution to projects.
9. Demonstrate the ability to work on diverse multi-disciplinary
teams.
10. Be able to create an employment portfolio including a cover
letter and resume.
